5 ways I’m staying positive

In order to have some normality right now there’s a host of different things I am doing to stay positive and I’m going to share them with you so hopefully they’ll bring some positivity to you and help to brighten your day too. I have always been someone that thrives on a routine, so I’m trying to stick to that as best as I can right now. However everyday is different and its important not to beat yourself up if you needed that extra few hours kip or couldn’t be bothered to brush your hair today! Here are a few things I’ve been doing to feel a bit better.

Exercise – I’ve finally started doing exercise as part of my daily routine, whether that’s a gentle pilates routine to start the day or a long walk with the dogs. I have always previously been reluctant to do exercise regularly but the improvement I’ve felt and seen in my mental and physical health just from three weeks has made me really motivated to continue. Having a work out playlist also really helps! My upbeat playlist of choice is ‘Sassy B*tch Mood’ on spotify which I’ll link here.

Reading – My me time currently consists of reading a book in the sunshine. I love that feeling when you reach the point in a book where you do not want to put it down, that made me in fact smile a lot yesterday as I was struggling with the book I’m currently reading and I pushed through and now I can’t put it down. I’ve tried to be more persistent when it comes to reading, a couple of years ago I was barely reading any books at all, last year I managed to read 20 and this year my goal is 24. If you don’t fancy a long read another great weekly read is Stylist magazine which is currently available for free via their app.

Thinking of others – Another pastime I’ve enjoyed a lot recently is putting pen to paper. I have been sending #postivepost to friends as I mentioned in my previous post, I find it really cathartic to write a note/letter and then get a rush of joy when I hear from my friend to know they’ve read it and its brightened their day. This week is national stationery week so I’ve linked below my fave stationery brands if you also want to share some love the old fashioned way!

Laughing – It’s no secret that I love a good laugh and its very good distraction from everything happening right now. If I’m having a down or out of sorts day then I will pop on the ‘Sha**ed Married Annoyed’ podcast which never fails to make me belly laugh. Hosted by Chris & Rosie Ramsey this award winning podcast is sure to put a smile on your face and give you a good laugh if you’re not already a weekly listener.

Looking forward – Having something to look forward to, even though right now I’m finding it good to take each day as it comes its always nice to have something to look forward to and each week I’m finding that with friends or family we have a video call planned to catch up and have a drink this has really brightened my days even if it’s at the cost of a sore head the morning after! So I’d highly recommend planning to have a call/video chat with someone that always makes you smile.

I hope that some of these ideas can help you also make positive changes and remember to take each day as it comes, we are all in this together.
