I hope you guys have all had a lovely week, today I’m back with part two of our Paris Photo Diary. My week has been pretty busy and on Friday we celebrated Ollie’s graduation so have been a little fragile this weekend. But back to beautiful Paris. We explored Monmartre on Saturday morning as it was on our doorstep after all. We climbed the stairs to Sacré-Coeur and then headed to Place du Tertre which is a beautiful square home to artists painting during the day. We grabbed Pains au chocolat for breakfast while looking around the variety of beautiful artists and their work. I love how quaint the tiny cobbled streets of Monmartre are. Comptoir General – We walked down the canal and stopped in here for drinks. The interior is fabulous and the setting is just like a warehouse bar you’d find in east London. I definitely want to come back here for cocktails in the evening on a future trip.
Saint-Ouen Flea Markets – I have been meaning to visit this market for such a long time, I remember seeing a photo of the lines of stalls years ago and saying I must visit, but it’s taken until this trip to actually go. Ollie is an absolute treasure hunter so I knew we’d be spending a few hours looking through the stalls and embracing our inner magpies. We found an amazing pin stall just after arriving and quite literally spent 15 minutes just looking through everything. We found a stall that had tons of Disney stamps which totally fascinated me, I’d never seen anything like them before, from all around the world but none for England, I wish there had of been, as I totally would have bought them. I wonder why we’ve never had any like that.
There were also stalls full of vintage prints and we managed to pick up some botanical and animal themed prints, we picked up three different ones, which we both liked. I’m still trying to work out where to frame them in our flat. They work well together as a trio of prints.
We took the bus back into the centre of the city and got caught in a torrential downpour and we sought shelter in the Le BHV Marais Shopping Centre which was quite the relief as we were drenched. We warmed up round the corner at Le Peloton Cafe with coffee and waffles.
On our final morning the sun streamed through the apartment windows as we packed our bags, neither of us wanted to say goodbye to Paris so soon. We dropped our luggage at Gare du Nord before heading to the Arc de Triomph and its viewing platform. If you are a EU citizen aged under 25 you can ascend the monument for free. This was something I’d researched beforehand, but after telling people about our trip it would seem it’s not a very well known tip, so it’s only right you guys know too. A handy tip if you’re wanting an incredible view of the city with the Eiffel Tower in the skyline too. It brought our trip to a fantastic end, and managed to squeeze in visiting Palais de Tokyo for a obligatory trip to their photobooth and awesome gift shop and of course a coffee.
