Paris is always a good idea, I go back time and time again and always leave having fallen in love with the city a little more. This trip was no exception. Back in September Ollie and I headed to the city of light for a long weekend, following on from a gig Ollie was playing on Thursday evening at the Eiffel Tower of all places. This was our second trip to Paris together, we last visited back in 2016 where we did a lot of touristy parts of the city and also went to Disneyland Paris for the day, and whilst I of course would have loved to go to Disneyland again, the idea of being able to explore the city for 3/4 days together at our own pace with no structured plan sounded just perfect to me.
The only things on our agenda were nice areas to walk around, good places to eat and spots to relax and people watch in. I had an entire map full of saved places on the google maps app, and whilst we didn’t get to tick everywhere off we saw and visited lots of lovely places. One great thing about the google maps app is that you can save an area of the map offline and keep all of your saved places too, super helpful when you’re trying to save your mobile data. We’ll have to come back to Paris again to see some more of the places that we had on our list to visit.
I took far too many photos as per usual so this photo diary is split into two posts. I hope that you enjoy looking at what we got up to on our first two days in Paris. I’ll add the addresses of places we visited below along with restaurants we liked. There will also be a 35mm Diaries post of all the shots taken on film in Paris too, I’m still waiting to finish the roll with the last of the shots from Paris on though, so that will be up soon as I get it developed.
Our airbnb was situated in the Monmarte area, one of my favourite parts of the city. It was a short but very steep walk to the Sacre Coeur, which you’ll see in part two. The apartment had everything we needed and the most incredible Parisian rooftop view (the five flights of stairs were worth it, just about).
The Hoxton – I had seen so many photos of this hotel over on instagram that I couldn’t resist stopping by to see it for myself and when we got there we stopped for a coffee and also returned here for our final cocktail of the trip. It’s been been so well curated and the interiors are just stunning. I would just LOVE to stay there on another trip! The Hoxton group can do no wrong!!
Sezane – Totally late to the party with this brand but now I’ve discovered it, I’m totally and utterly obsessed. I knew I just had to visit their flagship apartment whilst there plus its just around the corner from The Hoxton, so it would have been so very rude not to stop by right? The store is so beautifully merchandised I could have spent hours in there much to Ollie’s enjoyment, but he did get a fresh Madeleine whilst waiting for me though, so every cloud I guess. If you’re visiting Paris and like the brand then a visit to the apartment is a MUST!
EIFFEL TOWER – OLLIE’S GIG
On our second day we took a trip to Palais Royal and grabbed coffee at Cafe Kitsune before people watching in the gardens; couples walking hand in hand and groups of men playing bowls on a Friday afternoon I mean how could you not love Paris. We walked around the outside of the Louvre, before heading down to the very picturesque Pont Des Arts. We enjoyed a light lunch at Le Cafe des Beaux Arts which overlooks the Seine which was beautiful. I love that all the restaurants were still prepped for al fresco dining, a must do in Paris! We then walked along the Seine and perused the stalls where we purchased a lovely piece of vintage artwork. We think it’s a old beauty advertisement but are yet to find out exactly for what. We both liked it a lot and thought it would look fab in the flat. Check back very soon for part two of our Paris photo diary.
