The last time I was in Paris we tried to visit two of the infamous Big Mamma restaurants for dinner and the waiting list for a table was hours!! I said to myself that we would have to go on our next visit. Alas another trip to Paris hasn’t come along but one thing better has, Big Mamma launching a new restaurant right here in London. I heard about it from my friend Olivia who went along to Gloria just before it opened. Her reviews had sold it to me and I knew I needed to visit with Ollie as soon as possible. I started following along on their UK instagram page which gave a few insights into the menu. The photos alone made me hungry and as soon as they opened their doors we found a date to go.
The restaurant is a pure and traditional Italian trattoria, located in the heart of Shoreditch, which on a warm day walking past the sunshine yellow facade with green plants all in terracotta pots could be mistaken for being in Italy, its the ideal location for them in my opinion. Our first visit ended up being at the start of this month on our anniversary which was the perfect excuse to treat ourselves and indulge in the incredible Italian cuisine. The decor is nothing short of interior GOALS!! Their Parisian locations have always been photo friendly and wildly popular on instagram too, so it should come as no surprise that the London location is just as beautiful in the flesh as it looks in photos. But as you’ll know if you know me or my customary posts surrounding restaurants, it always comes down to the food, and my oh my it did not disappoint. I’m already planning our next visit, there’s so much on the menu I want to try.
I have listed below exactly what we had on this visit, not only did we leave feeling content and full but I woke up the next morning still dreaming about our meal, if that’s not the sign of a good meal I don’t know what is?! I will be returning to try their 10 layer lasagne, yes you read that correctly 10 layers, I mean it would be rude not to try it right along with their carbonara served from a hollowed our wheel of pecorino cheese. The meal, decor, atmosphere and service gave it such a sense of occasion, I’ve been recommending it to everyone since. After our visit I spotted a photo of their gelato and I can only imagine how delicious that would be. I’ll see you in the queue next time, because damn Gloria you are worth the wait!!
This post is in no way sponsored by the restaurant, I just wanted to share the photos because of my pure love of Italian food and restaurants done to a tee. Although it would be damn ace to be involved with the Big Mamma group as I have a big love for them and shall definitely be trying their other restaurants in Paris on my next visit.
