Across the easter bank holiday weekend and following week I visited the Yorkshire Dales for the week with Ollie, his family and family friends. As I mentioned in a recent post I love staycations and think we all should, they’re underrated if anything. A little disclaimer this post is rather photo heavy, so you may want to grab a cup of tea before diving in. It was so nice to take some official time off as a freelancer, this isn’t something I can do all that often without a bit of pre-planning of course.
This was my first time visiting the Yorkshire Dales and I’d really looked forward to soaking up the unique scenery, as well as endless cups of tea and seeing how many adorable little lambs we could spot on our long walks. Our first long walk on Easter Sunday was full of greenery and scenes straight off of a Yorkshire Tea box. We stayed in a magnificent house on the edge of the Dales, in a quaint village near Masham home to two local beer breweries. We visited Theakston’s brewery during the week before sampling a few 1/3rd pints of different beers on offer.
I have to say my favourite part of the trip was our walk on one of our final days around the Ribblehead Viaduct, the scenery was very different from our other walks, far less green and what I’d imagine the Scottish Highlands to be like (a destination very high on my staycation list). My other favourite part of the trip was getting to spend quality time with Ollie, his family and oldest family friends which are pretty much part of the family anyway. Playing board games, rounds of snooker and singing our hearts out to Abba. It is sure to be a week I won’t forgot, in more ways than one.
