Postcards from the coast

When it comes to taking time off, you’d usually assume you’d step away from your job for a week, fortnight or long weekend. However seeing as I’m a photographer and it is my absolute passion to create photos, when I’m on holiday I love to shoot and I  don’t go anywhere without my camera. In fact I would feel rather lost without it. I love having it to document special memories, moments and scenes that catch my eye. Taking photos whilst on holiday doesn’t feel like work to me, it helps me feel creative again and ready for new and exciting projects that lay ahead if me.

Today’s post is some of the memories from my staycation on the Suffolk coast with family last month, a bit like a giant collage of postcards. One of the my favourite pastimes from the holiday was renting out the rowing boats on Thorpeness Meare and then getting ice cream (below there’s a photo of George enjoying his first Mr Whippy ice cream I’ll be cherishing this photo forever).  The little’s loved the boating lake, Ollie and I took one out on our own one afternoon, it was so peaceful which was really wonderful. It was like a scene from a film, besides the expletives Ollie was shouting when the oar kept coming loose from the rowlock, which I kept finding very amusing.

We had the most amazing week away as a family and I felt like I really got to recharge my batteries which was just in time for us to move flats the following week. A month into our new place, which is feeling more and more like home, we both love it! But were also itching to go away together. As luck would have it Ollie’s been booked to play a gig in Paris so we’re going to make a long weekend out of it in September. We last went to Paris together back in 2016 and I can’t wait for us both to explore parts of the city we’ve never seen before. If you have any tips or must sees, and your favourite restaurants in Paris then please leave me a comment, we’d LOVE to hear them.
