On our third day in Santorini we decided to hire a car, so we could explore some more of the island. Hiring a car is really easy to do (even once you’re there and not booking in advance) and our hotel helped us book it. In the later Spring & Summer months you can also hire mopeds and quad bikes. We had a convertible for the day. We totally would have had the roof down, but just so happened to be the windiest day on our trip. We were windswept before we even stepped in the car.
On the drive to Oia we saw the change in coastline, rugged cliffs and winding roads. At every turn we were both in awe at how insanely beautiful the island was. We parked up and went for an explore, spotting lots of cats and dogs along the way before making our way into the cliffside and taking in the stunning view of the houses nestled in amongst the cliff edges. We found a cute little creperie to stop and have a late lunch at, where we had a stunning view of old bells, the oldest part of the town and the sea.
I loved the rugged and older part of Oia, the dusty coloured pastel houses and buildings surrounded by winding pathways down to the sea. Watching the sun slowly set here was one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. You can see why Oia is a tourist hotspot to watch the sunset.
I can't get over how clean everything is there! Beautiful photos!
